Institute of Education Library, A.B.U., Zaria

The Institute of Education Library is on the ground floor of the Institute of Education new block, with the Librarian’s office at the entrance of the Library. The Institute of Education Library hosts the diploma in Library and Information Science programme of the University. We also have a mandate to develop library services for schools in the Northern part of Nigeria. To this effect, the Library has developed a programme for teacher-librarians. The programme runs in the Institute on part-time basis, and also in conjunction with Colleges of Education in the North.

As a special library, the Institute is not very big but has a strong collection on education and related areas. It is highly used by both academic staff and students of the University. However, the library is weak in Journal subscription.

We undertake an indexing service of education articles in Nigerian Newspapers. The Index is published annually and can be purchased directly from the library. We also offer consultancy services in the areas of establishing libraries and running workshops for those who desire such services.
