Researches
One research conducted was on the “Review of Pre-Service Teacher Education Curricula in Nigeria”.
This was a World Bank, Universal Basic Education, NTI Project. The Principal Investigator was Prof. T.K.O. Adeyanju of Arewa House, A.B.U. Kaduna, while the Consultant Investigators were:

- Prof. S.O. Ayodele, Institute of Education, University of Ibadan
- Dr. Rose Amadi, School of Education, Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri
The Institute publishes the “Nigeria Education Forum” (NEF) Journal.

The Institute has many institutions affiliated to it. The affiliation is mainly in respect of the diploma programmes earlier mentioned. Both the Christian and Islamic educational institutions as well as some Colleges of Education both at State and Federal levels are involved in this.

The Institute organises some workshops. Recently, it organised these at Demonstration Secondary School and Department of Business Administration of the University as well as one at the Institute for Development Research for participants from the academic departments of the University, some Colleges of Education, the Army, Nursing Schools and other institutions. These were aimed at sensitising the participants on the need for registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) to qualify one for teaching as from 2006. They were also to acquaint them (participants) with the availability of the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) programme available at the Institute of Education and which qualifies the graduates for registration with the TRCN. There was also another workshop held at the Institute in January, 2006 for the academic staff of the Institute and representatives of some affiliated institutions. It was on Course Materials Development.
The academic staff of the Institute have attended, and will continue to attend, many conferences both within and outside the University.

The Institute of Education has the following facilities, among others:
- Offices and Lecture Rooms both at its Headquarters on the Main Campus and Annex near Tukur-Tukur, Zaria.
- Science Laboratories in both places (i.e. Headquarters and Annex).
- A Printing Press at the Headquarters.
- A Computer Service Unit at the Headquarters – to carry out computer services for the University community and the general public.
- Computer sets, typewriters, furniture, etc. in the offices in both places.
