  • Importance
  • Disasters are increasing in intensity and frequency due to conflicts and impact of climate change on Communities. Disasters have the potential of reducing Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and delaying the attainment of Millennium Development Goals (MDG). Considerable efforts are needed to reduce risks and build disaster resilience.


  • Objectives
  • To bring together practitioners and researchers in disaster management to share ideas on disaster management.

    1. To raise public awareness on the risks of disasters.
    2. Show case current researches in CCA and DRR
    3. Review current strategies in disaster reduction and building disaster resilience

  • Key Dates
  • Deadline for the submission of Abstract and full length papers Friday 28th September 2012

    1. Notification of acceptance of Abstract and full length paper tMonday 15th October 2012
    2. Final submission of corrected full length paper Friday 2nd November, 2012
  • Submission of Abstract
  • Abstract should be submitted online to the Conference email, cdrmds@abu.edu.ng before 28th September 2012. Abstract should include the following

    1. Justification for the research
    2. Methodology
    3. Results and Discussion
    4. Summary, Conclusion and Recommendation

    Abstract should not exceed 200 words. Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified before 15th October 2012 for the production of the Full paper. Authors will be required to register and attend the Conference. Full papers will be peer reviewed by international experts for publication in the maiden edition of the journal for Disaster Management

  • Conference Fees
  • Abstract should be submitted online (to the Conference website) before 29th June 2012. Abstract should include the following

    1. Registration: N15,000.00 -all inclusive package
    2. Students: N5,000.00 - all inclusive package

    Abstract should not exceed 200 words. Authors of accepted abstracts will be notifie4d before 27th July 2012 for the production of the Full paper. Authors will be required to register and attend the Conference. Full papers will be peer reviewed by international experts for publication in the maiden edition of the journal for Disaster Management
