Units and Services
Academic Programme Monitoring:
- Maintenance of a database of all approved academic programmes in the university at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Preparation and updating of the university academic brief.
- Monitoring the performance of all the university programmes to ensure the maintenance of high academic standards.
- Preparation of submissions to the university senate, for approvals in respect of new programmes and new departments.
- Arrange for the accreditation of new programmes and the re-accreditation of existing ones by the National University Commission.
- Facilitates free-flow of information within the university and between the universities.
- Co-ordinate the university curriculum review exercises.
Research Co-ordination:
- Co-ordinates and monitor all research activities in the university.
- Initiate research linkages and technical cooperation between the university and other universities, governments and their agencies. International Organizations, Industries etc.
- Promotes the utilization of the university’s vast research results by governments, industries and others.
- Provides the secretariat for the University Board of Research.
- Co-ordinates linkages and outreach programmes of the university including affiliations.
- Publication of research findings and promotion of individual and group research achievements through various national and international exhibitions and awards.
Publication, Documentation and Strategic Planning.
- Co-ordination and monitoring of publication of the university calendar, Annual reports, prospectus and other related publications.
- Co-ordinates the production and updating of policy document on course credit system.
- Preparation of the Directorate’s Annual report.
- Updating and monitoring the implementation of the university’s strategic plan.
- Assists in the preparation of the university’s academic master plan.
Students Industrial Work Experience Schemes.
- The main function of the SIWES Unit includes preparation of SIWES Master/Eligibility and Placement Lists to the SIWES Agencies, such as the NUC, Abuja, ITF Headquarters, Jos, the ITF Area Office, Kaduna, the Vice Chancellor, A.B.U. and the Director of Academic Planning and Monitoring, A.B.U.
- The SIWES Units ensures that all eligible students for the particular SIWES year are placed at the relevant Industries by liaising with the Departments of such students. Students are to spend six (6) months at the Industry of satisfy the NUC?ITF mandate.
