Department Of Political Science
Brief History
Political Science Department was created as Department of Government in 1967 and later renamed Political science in 1976. The change of name was more than a cosmetic one. The department of government has the narrow focus of training graduates for the establishment. The change of name was to reflect the new mood of the faculty to go beyond training graduates for government employment. It reflected a decision to undertake a scientific study of the governance of society. Accordingly, among others a course on modern political ideology was introduced. The Department also introduced a degree programme in International Studies
