Department Of Human Physiology
Brief History
The Department of Human Physiology was born in 1967 as Physiology is one of the basic medical science subjects. Physiology is the study of the various normal functions of the body. In fact, Physiology is very important in Medicine because a medical doctor needs to know how normal body works before assessing pathological (diseases) conditions in order to take necessary therapeutic measures so as to restore normalcy to the body. Physiology of today is the medicine of tomorrow.

Training of BSc (Hons) physiology students
b) Training of medical students towards the degree of MB. BS during their two pre-clinical years in basic and applied Physiological sciences.
c) Supervising medical graduates and B.Sc (Hons) Physiology graduates towards postgraduate degree either in M.Sc or Ph.D degree in Physiology and other medical related postgraduate courses such as FNMC, (Fellow of Nigerian Medical Council).
d) Rendering inter Faculty training services to B. Pharmacy undergraduate students from Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and BSc (PHE). Also in intra Faculty training services to B.Sc Anatomy, B.Sc Nursing Sciences.
e) Also rendering inter Faculty services to the Postgraduate students from Faculty of Education for the Health and Physical Education Students specializing in exercise physiology.
f) The Department also teaches Physiology for certificate courses such as AIMLT and Community Health students from the Institute of Health, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria.
g) Researching into various disciplines in Physiological Sciences.
Registration Guidelines
For admission into all the programmes in the faculty, candidates must satisfy the entry requirements of the University and Faculty.
All students in the Faculty shall register in the University using the university portal to be confirmed with the registration officers in the Faculty each academic year in accordance with the rules made from time to time by the University Senate.
The procedure for registration shall include the following:
a) Payment of fees and other changes in designated banks.
b) Online registration of the relevant courses for the academic year.*
c) Download and print the courses registered in (b) above for endorsement by the relevant officials of the faculty and academic office.
d) All completed and signed registration forms in (c) above must be returned to the Head of Department and Academic office for record purposes.
e) All the above stages must be completed within the stipulated period of registration.
* Online registration alone does not fulfill the requirements for course registration, thus stages a – e above must be followed
