The Vice chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria Professor Abdulahi Mustapha has inaugurated the Governing Board of the Directorate of University Advancement on Friday the 30th December, 2011.
Speaking at the Inauguration of the Board, which took place at the conference room of the Vice-Chancellor's office, Professor Abdullahi Mustapha Prayed to GOD towards the actualization f the mandate of establishing the Directorate. He said as part of effort to reposition the Directorate, the University will provide every necessary support and assistance needed to facilitate the smooth running of the Directorate, which include the release of the endowment fund to enable the Directorate function efficiently.
The Vice chancellor also pledged to provide a befitting office accommodation to the Directorate to enable it perform effectively, while promising for a speedy passage of the recommendations that will be presented at the end of the board's deliberations.
Professor Mustapha also urged the staff of the Directorate to rededicate themselves to their various responsibilities with a view to generating more fund to the University.
The Vice chancellor thereafter inaugurated the Governing Board and wished the Board Members a successful tenure.
In his remarks the chairman of the Governing Board Professor Idris Isa Funtua promised to work hard to deliver the mandate and pledged to carry every member along towards the realization of the Directorates set objectives.
The Board Terms of reference include oversight responsibilities of the Advancement activities of the University, determine the policy thrust of the Directorate ,to meet within each quarter of the year at least four times as well as to co-opt other person's to handle specific functions on the Directorates behalf.
Other members of the Board includes Nasir Bello Director, directorate of University Advancement, Andrew J Nok, Dean Faculty of science, arc. I.B Usman acting director PP&MS, the University Bursar, Dean students Affairs M.F Ishiyaku, Barrister Nuhu Kuso Alumni representative and the Dean faculty of administration as well as the communications officer, Directorate of University Advancement.
