Programme Overview
The department awards the B. Eng. (Agric.) at the under-graduate level. Due to the present level of development in the country, specialization at the first degree in the traditional areas of the profession is not encouraged. These are:
i) Farm Power and Machinery
ii) Soil and Water Engineering
iii) Farm Structures and Environment
iv) Crop processing and Storage
v) Farm Electrification
This general degree programme has improved the employment opportunities after graduation. Areas where our graduates have been absorbed include the banks, the River Basin and Rural Development Authorities, Consultancy, Mechanised farms, Agricultural machinery industry, etc. A student’s interest is aroused by the final year project topic. Most often this determines the future area of specialization.
