    Professor Shehu U. Abdullahi is an epitome of intellectual pride, renowned veterinary surgeon and the Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Nigeria. He is also the Chief Fundraiser of the University and has been involved in the management and coordination of a comprehensive fundraising program for the total development of the University to stand the test of time.

   Prior to his appointment as the Vice Chancellor of the University, he was the Provost of the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA), Kaduna, Nigeria. He joined the services of Ahmadu Bello University in 1977 and became a Professor in 1989. Since then, he serves the University and other Bodies on various capacities, among which includes: NUC Accreditation Committee on Veterinary Medicine in Nigerian Universities and Vice President, African Strategic and Peace Research Groups Nigeria Chapter (2000 – 2004). He was at one time the Divisional Veterinary Officer, Nsukka (1976 – 1977) and Project Director, Azanci Africa Limited (1992 – 1993). He was also at the elite National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru – Jos, Nigeria in 1990 (later as visiting Research Professor in 1996) as well as at Cape town University, South Africa in 1997 where he obtained a certificate in Senior Management.

    His academic achievements include the publication of over 81 articles made in international veterinary journals and the discovery of the treatment of an animal disease called urolithiasis (stone disease in 1992), which has since been adopted for treatment of human beings. Also, he received a certificate of recognition for excellent academic performance from the University of Minnesota, USA (where he had his Ph.D.). Pfizer Nigeria Plc gave him a merit award for significant contribution to animal health. He has served as external assessor to several Readers and Professors across various Universities.

    Professor Shehu U. Abdullahi’s worry is about “what will become of ABU in the next twenty years or more to come, amidst dwindling financial support of Government to tertiary Institutions in the country”. Thus, Professor Shehu U. Abdullahi challenge is geared toward fashioning out a tool for the exploitation of other sustainable source(s) of funds for the University, if it is to sustain its progressive drive for excellence.

    His appeal now is for all Stakeholders and Donor-Investors in Education to support ABU (being one of the oldest, largest and truly cosmopolitan citadels of learning in the sub-Saharan Africa) with financial and material resources and salvage it from going into extinction. For ABU, Prof. Shehu Abdullahi is a living testimony to the gains of diligence, discipline, dynamism, dedication and distinction. He is affable and personable, exciting and excitable. His laughter somewhat extra-ordinary tells a lot about ABU vivacious disposition!!!

    Dr Hudu A. Ayuba is the pioneer Development Officer, Planning & Resource Mobilization Unit of Ahmadu Bello University and also a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Political Science and International Studies.

    His appointment to the Development Office took effect from 2004 and is among other things, saddled with the responsibility of setting the Development Office, sensitizing the University stakeholders and coordinating as well as mobilizing resources for the total development of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. As at today, Dr Hudu A. Ayuba has a functional Office subdivided into Resource Mobilization, Planning and Marketing, and Communication Units armed with a cream of professionals that have swung to action ever since their appointments.

    Dr Hudu A. Ayuba is widely travelled and received training on Educational Advancement and Fundraising at CASE Spring Institute in UK as well as at CCS Fundraising firm in New York under the sponsorship of Carnegie Foundation of New York and McArthur Foundation, among others.

    Dr Hudu’s area of specialization is strategic studies and Diplomacy and has published articles on same in international and national Journals as well as supervises a lot Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students dissertations. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Philosophy of the University of Paris VIII, France, besides his other academic qualifications (i.e. B.Sc. M.Sc. Ph.D. in International Relations and Diplomacy).

    Mal. Ajiya has worked for about 18 years in both Public and Private Sector Organizations before joining Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) as Chief Resource Mobilization Officer. He has for over a decade being involved in fund raising activities and managing wide range of customers relationship portfolios to their delight during his working career in the Banking Industry, after which he had a working stint with Phoenix Investment Services Ltd as a Senior Consultant. He has received a considerable degree of training on fundraising; credit analysis; marketing & selling; and organizational leadership skills locally and internationally.

    Mal. Ajiya, amongst other things, holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Economics, Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Masters in International Affairs & Diplomacy. Also, Mr. Ajiya is an Associate Member and later elevated to the Fellow of the Institute of Certified Economics of Nigeria (FCEN); Associate Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria (ACPAN) and Member Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators of Nigeria as well as a professional member of Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), UK. He has published some couple of articles on various topical issues in national dailies and academic journals.

    Mal Ajiya is now saddled with the responsibility of expanding the resource base of the University for Optimal Application that will facilitate and enhance total development in the University well as promote excellent stakeholders relationship to total delight.

    Mal Sani joined Ahmadu Bello University Zaria as the Assistant Chief Planning Officer. He has worked in both the Public and Private sectors for over fifteen years, in State Ministry of Finance, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc and National Health Insurance Scheme. Mal Sani is equipped to handle the planning aspect of the Development Office of the University.

    His educational exposure will also come to bear, having had first degree in Political Science, Postgraduate Diploma in Management and a Masters degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy, all from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

    His life ambition has been to be in a position of impacting positively on the lives of others. It is his believe that this is an opportunity to achieve just that and put in his best through innovative stewardship.

    Bashir Munir is the Assistant Chief Marketing/Communications of the Development office Munir graduated from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in the year 1990 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in International Studies. He obtained his Master degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy in the year 2002 from the same University.

    He has 15 years working experience in the Public and Private Sectors of the Economy. He started his working career with the then Bank of Credit and Commerce International Kaduna as a youth corper. (NYSC) in the year 1991 and thereafter joined the Abuja Building Society, Kaduna, where he spent some years. He later took appointment with Habib Nigeria Bank Plc and subsequently moved to Power Holding Company of Nigeria Ltd before joining the service of the University. He is a professional member of Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), UK.

    Munir feels very fortunate to have started another career in Development Office and looks forward to all that this field has to offer in future.
