Philosophy and Objectives

The philosophy of the programme is to train Veterinary Doctors with the sound knowledge of modern Veterinary Medicine and capable of teaching, treatment and prevention of animal diseases with special impacts on the local tropical environmental conditions. The trained Veterinary Doctor is also expected to prevent the consumption of livestock products unfit for human consumption to be sold or made available to the population; thus prevent the transmission of Zoonotic diseases from animals to man.

Graduates of the Faculty are also trained to have sound academic (theoretical and practical) background to work in research institutions, and to pursue higher academic degrees in Nigeria and any standard Foreign Veterinary School
